Gateway Training Program

In partnership with the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), Wilderness Inquiry provides Gateway Training Trips at Twin Cities metro-area parks. These trips are a great introduction to the wilderness for adults with cognitive disabilities. The training trips are 3 days in length and focus on developing skills such as setting up a tent, paddling, camp craft, wilderness cooking, and social skills. Most trips take places in Twin Cities metro-area parks acccessible by Metro Mobility and other local transportation services.  We work with you to make sure all needs are accommodated--including additional staff and other supports, as well as guidance as you prepare for your trip.
